France is divided up into regions, then sub-divided into departments. There are smaller sub-divisions into prefectures, cantons etc.
Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur is one of the regions of France often referred to as PACA. Strangely none of places in PACA are departments! Although Provence and Cote d’Azur are well know “areas” although there is much debate about their extent and borders.

- Alpes-de-Haute Provence
- Alpes-Maritimes
- Bouches du Rhone
- Var
- Vaucluse
