Les Baux de Provence
The village of the Baux de Provence is situated in the heart of
the Alpilles on a rocky plateau of 245m high. A panoramic view
of Arles, the Camargue and the Alpilles can be seen from it.
This immense and superb stone fortress is without doubt one of
the "must-sees". Les Baux de Provence can only be visited by
foot, you will discover the chateau, different chapels, the
“Citadelle des Baux”, “hotels particuliers” and houses with
stones cut out by the steel slicing of the sun and the terra
cotta tiles which have imprisoned the traces of the past!
The village has been classified "one of the 100 most beautiful
villages in France" and attires more than 1.5 million tourists
per year! There are several galleries, nice restaurants and
shops.
