Different from the most Provençal villages, Valbonne was built along the lines of a strict plan drawn up by the monks of the islands of Lérins off Cannes. The village is hidden by fortified houses and counts 4 entrances, one on each side.

Strolling in the labyrinth of streets in the old village you will discover the place des arcades (17thc.), and the hotel de ville and its 19thc. Belfry. There is a charming fountain where horses and mules used to quench their thirst right in front of beautiful doorways decorated with symbols of the penitents and the trade guilds.
